Title: Effects of Buyang Huanwu Decoction on Lower Extremity Motor Function Ability and Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 in Patients with Cerebral Infarction with Difficiency of Qi and Blood Stasis
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effects of Bu Yang Huan Wu Decoction(BYHWD) on the lower limb motor function and the expression of serum matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) in acute cerebral infarct(ACI) patients with Deficiency of Qi and Blood Stasis Syndrome.Method: 60 ACI patients with Deficiency of Qi and Blood Stasis Syndrome were randomly divided into 2 groups: the treatment group filled with 32cases(BYHWD with foundational treatment,) and the control group filled with 28cases(foundational treatment). The lower limb motor function and the neurological grade were respectively observed with the methods of Fugl-Meyer assessment,NIH Stroke Scale(NIHSS) before treatment and 2-week after treatment.Meanwhile, the Serum MMP-9 and TNF-α,contrasted with 20 healthy people, were detected by Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay(ELISA) at the different time of 1-day pretherapy,7-day and 14-day post-treatment.Results: The neural functional scores, evaluated by Fugl Meyer in treatment group, were obviously higher than those in control group(t=5.534,P0.001),NIHSS in treatment group was obviously lower than those in control group(t=3.222,P0.002).And the content of MMP-9 and TNF-αin blood were markedly lower than those in control group(t=5.973,t=2.1566,P0.001,P0.05).Conclusion: BYHWD can extend the lower limb motor function, which may be closely related with down regulation to MMP-9 and the inhibition to inflammatory reaction.
