Title: Effects of Low Temperature at Seedling Stage on the Express of the Chilling Resistance of Rice at Flowering Stage
Abstract: By low temperature treatment to three rice varieties (lines) at the seedling and /or booting and flowering stages, analyses to the characteristic of their seed setting demonstrated: YueDongDao, growing with the high tolerance to cold treatment at the seedling stage, had the lowest seed setting rate if treated by low temperature at the booting and flowering stage, while contrary results were obtained to the variety FengYouZao 11, but cold treatment at the seedling stage facilitated both of them reach higher seed setting rate at the natural temperatur condition. especially to the latter. 94Zao816, growing with the midtolerance among them at the seedling stage, showed the much higher rate of seed setting than YueDongDao, but lower than FengYouZao 11; by cold treatment at the booting and flowering stage, however cold treatment at the seedling stage declined its seed setting rate even if it flowered under the condition of normal temperature. Therefore that high or low tolerance to cold a rice variety or hybrid combination is qualified must be analyzed by the influence of cold treatment on the seed setting rate at more than one stage during its life.
