Title: Clinical study of retrograde lacrimal intubation on the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis
Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical effect of the new material made retrograde lacrimal intubation on treatment of chronic dacryocystitis.Methods Three hundred and sixty five patients(Three hundred and sixty five eyes) with chronic dacryocystitis in this study were selected from the Xi'an Eye Hospital from December 2007 to December 2008.All patients were received retrograde lacrimal catheter implementation with new materials made silica gel tube in outpatient department,and washed the lacrimal passages after the operation,and the tube was removed after placing one to seven months.The symptoms and syphilis of lacrimal passages of these patients were observed in the following 6 to 12 months after the operation.Results All operations on patients were conducted successfully,and no complications happened during the procedure.The recovery rate and effective rate of retrograde lacrimal intubation on chronic dacryocystitis and nasolacrimal duct obstruction were 86.1% and 98.4% respectively.Conclusions This treatment is a satisfactory,safe and easy,less traumatic,economic,and good compliance method on treating chronic dacryocystitis and nasolacrimal duct obstruction,so it is suitable for clinical application.
