Title: Survey on Basic Health Behavior of Some Elderly People in Guangzhou City Recreation Hall for the Elderly
Abstract: Objective To understand the status quo of the health behavior of the elderly in urban Guangzhou,and thus to provide the basis for the improvement of their health behavior and healthy ageing. Methods 421 senior people aged 60 or above were chosen from recreation halls for the elderly in 4 districts in Guangzhou by convenience sampling. And by means of the self-designed questionnaire on basic health behavior and the questionnaire on Perceived Social Support Scale,a survey was made,with 379 valid ones collected. Results The number of health behaviors by the elderly was (6.1±1.5). Females exhibited better health behavior than males; those with the primary school education exhibited fewer than others. And the number of health behaviors by the elderly was weakly positively related to the help of family and help of external family(r=0.111 and 0.243,respectively). Conclusion The health behavior of the elderly in urban Guangzhou is on the average level. Education designed specially for males and those with primary school education should be strengthened,with the emphasis of the content being the reasonable dieting,exercising safety and proper body weight keeping.
