Title: Comparison of the elderly health self-assessment between urban and rural area in the West of Ningxia
Abstract: Objective To know the elderly health self-assessment in the West of Ningxia, and to analyze the difference of influence factors on health self-assessment between rural and urban. Methods The elderly aged 60 or older(1501 cases in urban and rural area) were studied as research objects in Ningxia with relevant information collected, including social demographic information, the health self-assessment, the willing of social communication, the wish of aged support, the satisfaction for social service and so on.Results The difference of elderly health self-assessment has no statistical significance. The other influencing factors are the age and the frequencies of going out among both urban and rural elderly. What's more, the advanced age and the times of going out(≤2)have the poor self-assessment. Besides, the self-assessment of elderly in urban area is associated with the satisfaction of community service(χ2=3.160, P≤0.000), and the elderly who are satisfied with community service have better health self-assessment than those not. The elderly self-assessment in rural area is associated with the willing of aged support(χ2=9.658, P≤0.000). And the elderly who want to live in home have better self-assessment than who want to live in aged support agencies. Conclusion The whole elderly self-assessment in Ningxia has no statistical significance between rural and urban area, while factors of health self-assessment are some difference. The nursing personnel should provide corresponding health service for different demanded old people, and improve the healthy level of the aged effectively.
