Title: Investigation and Analysis on the Knowledge and Attitude for AIDS among Medical Students
Abstract: Objective To investigate the status of knowledge and attitude about HIV/AIDS among junior medical students,and to provide reference for establishing school-based HIV/AIDS health education. Method 1149 students from freshmen and sophomores in a medical college were investigated with an anonymous self-administered questionnaire by the method of sampling investigation. Results The awareness rates of AIDS transmission and non-transmission were 94.56% and 77.20%,respectively,while AIDS-related prevention and treatment knowledge and policy awareness were 46.70%.83.90% of the students would like to participate in AIDS public education,but more than 70.00% of the students avoided keeping direct contact with HIV infection and AIDS patient. 71.98% of the students gained knowledge of HIV/AIDS from television,newspapers and magazines. Conclusions The junior medical students had got general idea about the classic transmission route of AIDS,but they lacked of the awareness about the non-transmission route of AIDS and AIDS-related prevention and treatment knowledge. Their attitudes towards AIDS needed to be improved.
