Title: Characteristics of Acinetobacter baumannii causing nosocomial infections and analysis of drug resistance
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To analyze the clinical distribution and drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii,so as to guide the reasonable use of antibiotics.METHODS A total of 169 strains of A.baumannii were isolated from clinical specimens from Jan 2009 to Jun 2011,then the clinical distribution and the drug resistance were analyzed.RESULTS The A.baumannii strains isolated from sputum accounted for 66.9%,the strains from the secretions accounted for 15.4%;the detection rate was highest in department of respiratory, followed by ICU;the drug susceptibility rate to cefoperazone/sulbactam was the highest(90.0%);the susceptibility rate to imipenem was 72.8%,ranking the second place;the drug susceptibility rate to meropenem was 69.8%,ranking the third place;the drug resistance rate to cefepime was 82.9%.CONCLUSION A.baumannii is so resistant to many antibiotics that it is necessary to choose the antibiotics on the basis of drug susceptibility testing so as to prevent the outbreak and prevalence of multidrug-resistant A.baumannii infections.
