Title: Synthesis of β-naphthyl methyl ether Catalyzed by Sodium Bisulfate
Abstract: Sodium bisulfate can be used as catalyst for the etherification instead of sulfuric acid. β-Naphthyl methyl ether was synthesized from β-naphthol and methyl alcohol in the presence of sodium bisulfate monohydrate. The influent factors of reaction and the reuse ability of the catalyst were investigated. The yield of the ether could reach 93.7% under amount of substance ratio of β-naphthol, methyl alcohol and sodium bisulfate were 1:4:0.29, reflux reacting for 14h.
