Title: Influence of expelling wind herbs on pathologic damage in rats with liver fibrosis
Abstract: Objective: To observe the influence of expelling wind herbs on pathologic damage in rats with liver fibrosis. Methods: Eighty SD male rats were randomly divided into normal control group(n=8) and model group(n=72). The rat model of hepatic fibrosis in model group was made by subcutaneous injection 50% CCl4 olive oil solution in 12 weeks. After 8 weeks successful modeling, the model rats were randomly divided into expelling wind herbs group(Fangfeng, Qianghuo, Baizhi), Xiayuxue Decoction group, colchicine group, pathological model group. Rats were continuing to model while intervening through given related drugs respectively. General and histopathological changes of liver tissue were observed in each group. Results: Compared with pathological model group, the pseudolobule in rat liver cells in colchicine group were observed by using a light microscope. Normal liver cell cord in Xiayuxue Decoction group and expelling wind herbs group was observed by using a light microscope, no formation of liver pseudolobules, and the effect of expelling wind herbs group was better than in Xiayuxue Decoction group. All treatment groups could inhibit cell organelles degeneration under an electron microscope. The inhibitory effect of expelling wind herbs was superior to colchicine group and Xiayuxue Decoction group. Conclusion: Expelling wind herbs had some inhibition on hepatic fibrosis in rats, which would provide new treatment ideas in clinical.
