Title: Combined Physilogical Effects of Weightlessness and Hypoxia
Abstract: Hypoxia is a possible factor
affecting the human body during spaceflight ,but up-to-now the combined effect of
weightlessness and hypoxia is not fully un-derstood. The author reviewed the literatures and
got a conception that acute hypoxiawould aggravate the effets of weightlessness ,such as
space mation sickness or cardiovas-cular deconditioning ,but chronic hypoxia(Hypoxic
acclimatization ) might be a counteracting factor against weightlessness.During space flight the
Po2 in the cabin is usuallycontrolled as close to that of the sea lcvel as possible ,and should
be no less than 17.7kPa(Po2 at 1500m of altitude). It is suggested that a low oxygen
environment in space cabinmight be adopted during a long duration of space flight in the future.
