Title: Comprehensive treatment of ulcerative colonitis with enema retention of TCM and oral medicine
Abstract: Objective It is to observe the comprehensive treatment effect on ulcerative colonitis with the enema retention of TCM in active period and oral medicine in relieve period. Methods 80 patients were divided into two groups at random. The treatment group had 50 patients, in whom the stasis of wetness-evil and accumulation of heat-evil type was treated with the modified Baitouwong decoction enema retention, and the asthenia of both the spleen and the kidney type was treated with modified Fuzilizhong decoction enema retention. In relieve period, all were treated with Lizhong decoction orally according to the differentiation and treatment of TCM. 30 patients in control group were treated with SASP in both periods. Six month is a curative course. The clinical symptoms, laboratory blood test, stool test, immunity function examination, colonoscopy and pathologic examination of two groups were analyzed before and after treatment. Results The general effective rate of the treatment groups was 95% and that of the control group was 77%. There was significant difference between two groups ( P 0.01). Conclusion The combined treatment of the enema retention of TCM in active period and the oral Chinese medicine in relieve period has quick effect, no negative reaction, high curative rate, low recurrent rate and can be long-term applied.
