Title: Anthropological Linguistic and Sociolinguistic Approaches to the Issues of Linguistic Relativity
Abstract: Linguistic relativity is one of the concerns from anthropological linguistics and socio-linguistics and the principle of linguistic relativity becomes one of the classic theories in these fields.Cross-cultural contrastive analysis establishes an important basis on the study of linguistic relativity. Both anthropological linguists and sociolinguists admit that linguistic relativity should be connected with cognitive relativity and cultural relativity and then make a thorough comparison on the latter, which thus forms the typological approach. With the rise of critical linguistics and critical discourse analysis, the issues of relationship between language, mind and culture have been concerned by sociolinguists.Study of scientific discourse plays an important part in sociolinguistics as well in anthropological linguistics.
