Methods One hundred and twenty teeth (140 canals) scheduled to be endodontically treated were randomly selected, 78 canals with apicitis. When pulp chamber access were achieved, the working length of each canal was measured using ROOT ZX apex locator with root canals in dry or moisture conditions. After the canals were filled, X-ray photograph was taken and the actual canal length was evaluated. Results ROOT ZX electronic apex locator measured canal lengths within a range of 0.5mm in 74.29% of the cases. apicitis has no statistical effect on working length determination (P 0.05), dry canals may increase accuracy than in moisture canals(P0.01). Conclusions Electronic apex locator is a convenient and accurate device in determination of canal working length. Apical conditions have no effect on its accuracy in determination of canal working length, but measuvement is more accurate in dry canal than in moisture canal.Read More
