Title: Effects of resveratrol on activity of endothelial progenitor cells from human peripheral blood
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of resveratrol on the activity of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs)from human peripheral blood. Methods EPCs were isolated from human peripheral blood and identified immunocytochemically.EPCs were incubated with resveratrol(1,10,25 and 50 mmol/L)or placebo for 7 days.Cell proliferation, migration and in vitro vasculogenesis were observed using MTT assay, modified Boyden chamber assay and in vitro vasculogenesis detection, respectively. Results Incubation of isolated human MNCs with resveratrol increased the number of EPCs,maximum at 50 μmol/L,24 h(approximately 1-fold increase(P0.01).In addition, resveratrol promoted the capacity of EPCs proliferation, adhesion, migration and in vitro vasculogenesis. Conclusion Resveratrol may increase the number of EPCs and improve the functional activity.
