Title: The relationship between microvessel density in mesenchyme and clinicopathological factors in breast carcinoma
Abstract: Objective: To study the relationship between microvessel density (MVD) and clinicopathological factors in breast carcinoma. Methods: Microvessel density was detected in 49 cases of breast carcinoma and 10 cases of normal tissue adjacent to tumor with immunohistochemical technique. Then compared the results with clinicopathological factors which affected the prognosis. Results: The MVD of breast carcinoma was significantly higher than that of adjacent non tumor normal breast tissue ( P 0.01) ; The MVD of breast carcinoma was associated with histological grade and lymph node metastasis , but no related to age, tumor size, histological type, clinical stage, estrogen and progesterone receptors. Conclusion: MVD of breast carcinoma is a referred indicator to determine tumor biological behavior, metastasis potential ,prognosis and clinical therapy.
