Title: Effects of the Freezing Soil on Sandy Soil Moisture in Coal-Mining Subsidence Area
Abstract: The sandy soil moisture in Bulianta mining subsidence area and the non-collapsing area in the southeast edge of Maowusu Sandy Land have been determined and calculated in spring. The result shows that when the soil is frozen and covered by snow, the soil moisture in subsidence area collapsed in 2005 and 2004 are separately 4.3% and 3.5% lower than the non-collapsing area. But after thawing of soil, the soil moisture in subsidence area collapsed in 2005 and 2004 are separately 5.2% and 6.2% lower than the non-collapsing area, which indicates that freezing soil and accumulated snow are advantageous to restrain the water deficit in coal-mining subsidence area.
