Title: Comparative study of laparoscopic surgery and laparotomy in treatment of uterine fibroids
Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical value of laparoscopic surgery in treatment of uterine fibroids. Methods A total of 120 cases of uterine fibroids were randomly divided into laparoscopic group and laparotomic group. The intraoperative time and blood loss and postoperative complications and recovery in both groups were compared. Results The average operative time was 128.6 min in the laparoscopic group and 104 3 min in the laparotomic group, respectively (P0.01). The mean operative blood loss was 92.4 ml and 88. 2 ml, respectively. The occurrence rates of complications in the laparoscopic group and the laparotomic group were 7.7% and 15%, respectively. Conclusion Laparoscopic surgery which is minimally invasive and can result in lower occurrence rate of complications can be an option for the treatment of uterine fibroids.
