Title: Artificial Propagations of Nine Mating Combinations among Channa argus, Channa maculate and Hybrid Snakehead
Abstract: Artificial propagations of nine mating combinations among Channa argus,C.maculate and hybrid snakehead were conducted in this study, which was expected to provide the reliable technical information and experience for the cultivation and production of hybrid snakehead. The results showed that the orders of fertilization rate and hatching rate for the nine kinds of snakehead were same in all hatching methods and there were significant differences in fertilization rate and hatching rate among the nine kinds of snakehead. The fertilization rates and hatching rates of four mating combinations [i.e.C.maculate(♀)×C.maculate(♂),C.maculate(♀)×hybrid snakehead(♂),hybrid snakehead(♀)×C.maculate(♂) and hybrid snakehead(♀)×hybrid snakehead(♂)]were higher than these of other five combinations, which suggested higher reproduction efficiencies of the four combinations. However, the production performance advantages of their offspring still needed further research.Hatching method had significant influences on the development and hatching of fertilized eggs, and the method 'micro-flow incubation′ was the best. The fertilization rate and hatching rate were also influenced by the number of reuse of male broodstock, and the suitable number of reuse was 2-3.
