Title: Effective determination of trace bismuth in medicine in microemulsion medium
Abstract: The effects of four kinds of micellar and five kinds of microemulsion were studied on the determination of trace bismuth by spectrphotometry. The results showed that the absorption increased when one or two kinds of micellar and microemulsion were used. The microemulsion is the most effective. In a microemulsion medium containing OP, n-C_4H_9OH, C_7H_(14) and water, Bi(Ⅲ) reacts with salicyl fluorone (SAF) to form a stable red complex at pH 1.0. The absorption maximum of Bi(Ⅲ)-SAF complex locates at 516 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity is 1.17×10~5 L/mol/cm. Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0~30 μg Bi(Ⅲ) per 25 mL. The method has been applied to the determination of bismuth in bismuth aluminate compound tablets with satisfactory results.
