Title: Establishment of animal model for cardiopulmonary bypass in rats
Abstract: Objective To establish the animal model of cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB) in rats. Methods Eight male SD rats were anaesthetized and performed 60 min of CPB by membrane mini-oxygenator. The femoral artery, right external jugular vein and left femoral vein of rats were cannulated. During the whole process, the hemodynamics, electrocardiograph(ECG) and blood-gas analysis of rats were observed. Results Eight rats were performed membrane mini-oxygenator in CPS successfully. The steady hamodynamic parameters and normal blood-gas analysis were found during whole progress. After weaning of CPB,the rats cardiovascular and respiratory functions were recorvered rapidly. Conclusion The rat model of CPB is safe, reliable, steady and applicable. It is an ideal animal model for studying multiple organ dysfunctions induced by CPB.
