Title: Minimally invasive treatment of impacted upper ureteric calculi:report of 86 cases
Abstract: Objective:To explore the ideal ways of minimally invasive treatment of impacted upper ureteric calculi. Methods:From January,2005 to October,2008,86 cases of impacted upper ureteric calculi were treated by minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(MPCNL),and compared with transurethral ureteroscope lithotripsy(URL).40 of whom received MPCNL,46 received URL and 15 combined with auxiliary extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL).Results:After MPCNL,the stone-free rate was 95.0%(38/40)in 3 d postoperation, and it was 100%(40/40)in a month postoperation. After URL,the stone-free rate was 34.8 %(16/46) in 3 d postoperation. With the auxiliary ESWL,the stone-free rate was 87.0%(40/46) in a month postoperation. Conclusion:High stone-free rate can be obtained with MPCNL for impacted upper ureteric calculi. The stone-free rate is less satisfactory with URL,but it can be improved with the auxiliary ESWL.
