Title: Joint properties and microstructure of copper by friction stir welding
Abstract: This work studied the feasibility of friction stir welding(FSW)for joining of copper,the welding process,joint microstructure and properties of copper were analyzed.Results for welding showed that defect free weld were produced on6mm thick copper plate at optimum joining conditions.Besides,the experiment indicated that transverse tensile strength of FSW copper joint reached about 87%of that of the base metal and the conductivity of the joint is approximately equal to that of the base metal.
