Title: Application of SCT in Combination with IBRCT in Diagnosis of Bronchiectasis
Abstract: Objective; To observe the appearance of bronchiectasis on spiral CT(SCT) and to evaluate whether SCT in combination with high resolution CT (HRCT) scan was helpful in diagnosis of bronchiectasis. Materials and methods; 77 cases with bronchiectasis proved by pathology or supported by outcome of clinical treatment and follow-up were reviewed. All patients had SCT scan through lung with 1. 5 pith and 10mm table speed, followed by 1mm or 2. 5mm collimation axial HRCT scan at 1 - 5mm interval through the interesring area. The findings of bronchiectasis were compared on SCT and HRCT. Results: The direct signs of bronchiectasis could be clearly demonstrated on HRCT. Specific findings of bronchiectasis on SCT was only 26% (33/127). Its specificity was very low. But the integral exposure in the region exposed for patient during SCT scan was obviously reduced comparing with the same number of slices with HRCT scan. Conclusion: SCT scan in combination with HRCT scan was very helpful in diagnosis of bronchiectasis.
