Title: Clinical Observation on Oxygen-driven Aerosol Inhalation of Budesonide Suspension for Elder Patients with Acute Attack of Chronic Asthmatic Bronchitis
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To probe into the clinical efficacy and safety of oxygen-driven aerosol inhalation of Budesonide suspension in elder patients with acute attack of chronic asthmatic bronchitis.METHODS:65 patients with acute attack of chronic asthmatic bronchitis were randomly divided into two groups. Both groups were given combined therapy including oxygen inhalation, bronchodilators and anti-infective therapy.33 patients in the trial group were treated with add-on Budesonide suspension(2 mg) plus 0.9% NaCl(2 mL) through oxygen-driven aerosol inhalation with an oxygen flow rate of 5-6 L.min-1,twice a day(10-15 min each time),and 32 patients in the control group were treated with add-on prednisolone(40 mg) i.v.The change in symptoms and signs, the major parameters of the arterial blood gas(ABG) and the adverse reactions in the two groups after treatment of 7 days were followed.RESULTS:After treatment, both groups showed improvement to some degree in cough, expectoration, wheezing and ABG etc(P0.01),but the improvement in the trial group was slightly superior to that in the control group(P0.05),moreover,no side effects were noted during treatment.CONCLUSION:Oxygen-driven aerosol inhalation of Budesonide suspension had proved efficacy and mild side effects in elder patients with acute attack of chronic asthmatic bronchitis, and it is a safe and rapid method and thus is worthy of clinical recommendation.
