Title: Nurses' mental health condition and coping style
Abstract: objective To study the character and relevance of nurses' mental health condition and coping style in order to find out effective management and education strateoies.Methods Investigate 181 nurses by Symptom Self-assessment Scale(SCL-90) and Coping Style Questionnaire(CSQ).Group the scores into 30,30~40 and 40 years old and compare them to Chinese adult norms.All the data was analyzed by t test,x2 test,ANOVA and Correlation Analysis in SPSS 14.0 software.Results SCL-90 shows that the rates of positive symptom of all groups are 17.8%,44.8% and 37.5%,in which 30~40 years old is the highest,x2=13.9,P=0.001.There is significant difference in the average scores of anxiety and crankiness factor(P0.05).CSQ shows that the average scores of solving problems and asking for help of all the groups have significant difference(P0.01).There is significant negative correlation between the average scores of asking for help in CSQ factors and some factors in SCL-90(P0.05).Conclusion Nurses' mental health is in good adapting condition.As there is difference between age groups in the mental health condition and coping style,managers should take different assistant measures for various ages in Employee Assistant Plan.
