Title: Analysis of pyrophoric nature of ferrous sulfide
Abstract: The condition of inspection and maintenance of petrochemical units was simulated by accelerating rate calorimeter to investigate the oxidation reactions and pyrophoric behavior of ferrous sulfide in this paper.The effects of flow rate of air,particle sizes of ferrous sulfide and the existence of water on the reactions were studied as well.The results show that the rate of oxidation reactions was accelerated by water,at the same time the initial temperature of reactions was decreased.In addition,increasing flow rate of air,decreasing granularity of ferrous sulfide,or increasing pressure of water steam could accelerate the oxidation reactions rate and enhanced pyrophoric behavior of ferrous sulfide.
