Abstract: Objective: To analyze MRI features of pituitary abscess, and to improve its diagnostic accuracy. Methods: MRI findings and clinical materials of 4 patients with pituitary abscess proved by surgery were analyzed retrospectively. Ruselts: Pre-contrast MRI showed iso-hypointense or iso-hyperintense heterogeneous intensity on T1WI and hyperintense or hyper- hypointense on T2WI. Post-gadolinium MRI showed that the satellite foci was found bilaterally or superior to the main ring-like lesion in 3 cases, optic chiamatic enhancement was seen in 2 cases, leptomeningeal enhancement was detected in 1 patient. Conclusion: There were no specific signs of pituitary abscess on conventional MRI. Post-gadolinium shows some MRI findings are specific for diagnosis of pituitary abscess.
