Title: Study of therapeutic efficacy of percutaneous radiofrequency ablation guided by ultrasonography in rabbit renal VX2 tumor
Abstract: Objective To study the feasibility and effectiveness of cluster electrode percutaneous radiofrequency ablation guided by ultrasonography in renal tumor. Methods Forty-two rabbits carrying renal VX2 tumor were divided into treated group and control group randomly(27 and 15 rabbits, respectively). Radiofrequency ablation under the guidance of ultrasonography was performed in the treated group. The tumors were evaluated by two-dimensional ultrasonography for the changes of the shape and the echo pre- and post-treatment, during the course of treatment and post operation. Necropsy was performed on all the animals after they died naturally. Tumor state metastasis rate and survival rate were compared. Results ①Paracentesis was performed successfully on all the animals and the treating time was 27-220 seconds. ②Tumor size in the treated group was smaller than that in control group from 3 d,7 d,14 d and 21 d operation(P 0.05). Growth velocity of the tumor in the treated group was slower than that of control group. ③The difference of survival rate between the treated group and control was significant[( 45.1± 9.5)d vs ( 33.7± 6.9)d, P 0.05]. ④Tumor size in renal tissue in the treated group was smaller than that of control group. Metastasis node number in lung tissue in the treated group was fewer than that of control group. Conclusions The treatment of cluster electrode radiofrequency ablation guided by ultrasonography in renal tumor can lengthen the survival time. The management is safe and effective.
