Title: Clinical Observations on Acupuncture for Abdominal Post-operative Gastroparalysis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical effect of acupuncture on abdominal post-operative gastroparalysis.Method Acupuncture plus electroacupuncture, auricular-plaster therapy and routine Western medical treatment were used to promote the recovery of gastrointestinal functions.Results After treatment by the above methods, 12 cases get cured, of whom, 6 recovered in 10 days, 4 in 20 days and 2 in 30 days, and 3 cases obtained no effect. Conclusion Acupuncture functions to regualate gastrointestinal nerves and hormone secretion. For patients with long gastroparalysis after operation and a poor response to gastroenterokinetogenic medicine, therefore, a comosite treatment including acupuncture should be provided as earlyas possible to avoid re-operation.
