Title: The significance of serum Cystatin C in evaluation of impairment of renal function in patients with early stage of acute glomerulonephritis
Abstract: Objective To study the clinical significance of serum level of Cystatin C in early stage of renal impairment in patients with acute glomerulonephritis. Methods Ninety patients with acute glomerulonephrisitis were allocated into experimental group and 55 normal persons in control group. Methods Serum levels of Cystatin C and creatinine were detected by colloidal and picric acid method. All these data were statistically analyzed and compared. Results Serum levels of Cys-C and Scr were significantly increased in patients with acute glomerulonephritis in comparison with those of control group(P 0.01).There was statistically significant difference in positive rate of serum levels of Cys-C and Scr between patients with acute glomerulonephritis and controls(P 0.01).Conclusion The detection of serum level of Cys-C is more sensitive than serum level of Scr in evaluating renal impairment in patients with acute glomerulonephritis. In consequence, serum level of Cys-C is a sensitive indicator for evaluating early renal impairment in patients with acute glomerulonephritis.
