Title: Nursing of patients with bedsore treated with MEBO in association with surgicaloperation
Abstract: Objective: To strengthen the nursing work in order to shorten the time for preoperational preparation and the course of the total treatment. Method: 42 cases of bedsore were divided randomly into 2 groups. To prepare for operation 21 patients in group A were treated with MEBO gauze and 21 patients in group B were treated with gentamycin and lithospermum gauze until the wounds had fresh granulation and were ready for skin flap transplantation. The patients in the 2 groups had no significant difference in age, sex, cause of disease and focus position and they were statistically comparable. The time of the preparation for operation and the time of total hospital stay (drug treatment plus surgical operation) of the 2 groups were compared. In both groups, the patients received the same nursing care according to the nursing program. Result: In group A, the time of preparation for operation was 8 49±2 23 days and in group B, 15 6±6 70 days. In group A the average healing time was 20 50±4 81 and in group B 35 31±7 70 days. Conclusion: MEBO gauze treatment significantly shortened the time for preparation of surgical operation, as compared with gentamycin and lithospermum gauze treatment. The total hospitalization time was also shortened.
