Title: Impact of different sexual and reproductive health education on vocational school students and service model evaluation
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the impact of different sexual and reproductive health education on vocational school students and service model evaluation. Methods Three vocational schools in Shanghai were selected as study sites, among which two were intervention schools where the intervention activities were implemented by school teachers (model 1) and out-of-school health professionals (model 2),respectively,and the other one acted as control school. The intervention lasted for two years. The impact of the intervention was evaluated by comparing the results from baseline and post-intervention surveys. Results Both intervention models increased students' sexual and resproductive health knowledge, and improved their self-satisfaction level. After adjusting potential influencing factors, the difference of the increased score on sexual and resproductive health knowledge between model 1 or modle 2 school and the control school was 8.4 and 18.2,repectively; and the difference of the increased score on self-satisfaction between model 1 or modle 2 school and the control school was 1.0 and 0.6,repectively; the differences were statistically significant. Besides, the intervention model 2 significantly strengthened students' safe sex intention. After adjusting potential influencing factors, the difference of the increased score on safe sex intention between model 2 and model 1 school,or model 2 and control school was 0.3 and 0.4,repectively; the differences were statistically significant. Conclusions Compared with education and services provided by school teachers, the impact of the education and service provided by out-of-school health professionals on vocational school students' knowledge,self-satisfaction and safe sex intention was much better.
