Title: Expression and Its Significance of Ki-67 and E-cadherin in Breast Cancer Tissues
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expressions of Ki-67 and E-cadherin in breast cancer and to analyze the relationship with clinical and pathological features of breast cancer. Methods The expression of Ki-67 and E-cadherin in 84 cases of breast cancer were detected by immunohistochemistry SP method. Results The positive expression rate of Ki-67 in patients with breast cancer was 88.09% and positive protein localized in the nuclei. The positive expression rate of E-cadherin in patients with breast cancer was 78.57% and positive protein localized in the cellmembrane or cytoplasm. The positive expression rate of Ki-67 showed significant difference among different pathological types(P0.05).The expression of Ki-67 showed significantly positive correlation with axillary lymph node status(r=0.241,P0.05)and BMI(r=0.244,P0.05).The expression of Ki-67 showed no correlation with age, ethnicity, menopausal status, tumor size, histological grade and clinical stage(P0.05).The expression of E-cadherin had negative correlation with histological grade(r=-0.239,P0.05).The expression of Ki-67 had no correlation with age, ethnicity, menopausal status, tumor size,BMI,clinical stage, axillary lymph node status(P0.05).The expression of Ki-67 was not related with the expression of E-cadherin.Conclusion The Ki-67 and E-cadherin are important factors in the development and invasion of breast cancer metastasis. They will be used to evaluate breast cancer prognosis and to guide treatment. But the two indices do not have synergy in development, invasion, and transfer process of breast cancer.
