Title: Effect of Metoprolol and Felodipine on Heart Rate Variability in Patients With Essential Hypertension
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of Metoprolol and Felodipine on the heart rate variability(HRV)in patients with essential hypertension. Methods Sixty cases with essential hypertension(age range from60to70years old)were randomly divided into two groups:Metoprolol group and Felodipine group.24h electrocardiography recording and heart rate variability of four weeks were observed before and after administer drugs in the both groups. Results The time domain indexes(SDNN,SDANN,SDNN idex and RNN50%)of HRV increased significantly(P0.05)after treatment in the Metoprolol group, but not in the Felodipine group(P0.05).Conclusions Metoprolol may improve significantly the heart rate variability in the patients with essential hypertension. The effect of Felodipine was not significant before and after treatment.
