Title: The Relationship between Hyperhomocystinemia and MTHFR Gene in Young Adult Cerebral Infarction Patients
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the relationship between the occurrence of cerebral infarction, plasma homocystine level, and MTHFR gene polymorphism. Methods:The plasma homocystine levels were measured by high performance liquid chromatography, and MTHFR gene C677T polymorphisms were analyzed by PCR_RFLP technology in80patients with cerebral infarction and40normal individuals. Results:The frequency of T/T genotype in stroke patients was33.75%,and was significantly higher than that in control group which was20%(P0.05).The frequency of T allies in patients(58.75%)was significantly higher than that in control group(36.25%)(P0.05).Compared with the normal group, the plasma tHcy levels and the ratio of HHC were higher, and tHcy levels in T/T genotype were higher than that in T/C and C/C genocye. Conclusion:MTHFR gene may be an important genetic element for cerebral infarction, and HHC is an independent risk factor for cerebral infarction.
