Title: Diagnosis of hepatic artery thrombosis of postoperative orthotopic liver transplantation with color Doppler sonography
Abstract: Objective To assess the characteristics of hepatic artery thrombosis (HAT) after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) with color Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS). Methods The CDUS data of 6 angiographyically or surgically proved cases of HAT after OLT was summarized. Results Five patients showed no hepatic arterial flow around portal vein. Hepatic arterial flow was observed on the third day after OLT but disappeared on the fifth day in a case. A significant increase in velocity of portal vein was observed in all the 6 patients. Collateral circulation established around hepatic artery in one case. Three patients had hepatic parenchymal necrosis. Two cases had contrast echo of Glisson and 2 had lightly dilated intrahepatic biliary duct. Conclusion CDUS has an important value in the diagnosis of HAT after OLT.
