Title: Effect of Large Dose Ambroxol on the Antioxidant Activity in Patients with ARDS
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of high dose ambroxol on the antioxidant activity in patients with ARDS.Methods 42 patients with ARDS were divided randomly into two groups.Patients in group A were treated only by 0.9% NaCl(500 ml),and in group B with high dose ambroxol(20 mg/kg) and 0.9% NaCl(500 ml) once a day for 7 days. The pulmonary injury, blood gas analysis and SOD in serum were measured before and during treatment respectively. Results The lung injury scores, blood gas indexes and the SOD activity of the patients in group B were better than group A(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusions Ambroxol can enhance the antioxidant capacity and improve pulmonary function in patients with ARDS.
