Title: Synthesis and all-optical switching effect of novel polymer containing azobenzene chromophore side groups
Abstract: A novel azobenzene chromophore containing chiral unit was synthesized and the corresponding monomer was obtained by acylation reaction. The polymer with pendant azobenzene chromophore was prepared through radical polymerization using the monomer and acrylate monomers. The monomer and the polymer were characterized using 1H NMR、FTIR、UV-Vis spectroscopy. Furthermore, the all-optical switching effect of the polymer was investigated experimentally. Upon the irradiation of pump beam, the repetition of cis - trans - cis photoisomerization of azobenzene groups leads to photoinduced anisotropy in the polymer. The all-optical switching effect can be realized in the polymer film at relatively low optical driving power (28.1 mW).
