Title: EFFECTS OF GIBBERELLIC ACID (GA_3) ON OXIDATIVE STRESS IN MICE
Abstract: The effect of Gibberellic acid(GA3) on oxidative stress in Mice was investigated. The activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and the contents of malondialdehyde(MDA) in spleen, liver and heart were determined. The results showed that the activity of SOD and GSH-Px was significantly lower than those in the control group(P0.05,P0.01),which decreased by 21.01%,29.02%,and 23.36%,35.03%,respectively,at 394 and 788mg/kg bw dose levels in the spleen;and decreased by 9.01%,13.05% and 12.81%,16.17%,respectively,at the same dose levels in the liver. The contents of MDA were remarkably higher than those in the control group at the same dose levels(P0.05,P0.01),which increased 19.06% and 23.61%,respectively,at 394 and 788mg/kg bw dose levels in the spleen;and increased 22.33%,26.39%,respectively,at the same dose levels in the liver. The activity of SOD and GSH-Px was higher than those in the control group in the kidney, which increased 22.34% and 40.20%.And the contents of MDA were lower than those in the control group(P0.05,P0.01),which decreased 35.93% and 30.05%.But it caused unconspicuous alterations in the heart. The results suggested that Gibberellic acid(GA3) might produce different oxidatie stress in mice's various tissues. It caused a significant oxidative damage in the spleen and liver, but it caused an unconspicuous oxidative damage in the heart.
