Title: Expression and clinical significance of Id-1 and VEGF in human gastric cancer tissues
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression and the clinicopathologic relationship of Id-1 and VEGF in gastric cancer and explore their clinicopathologic significance.METHODS: Immunohistochemistry SP technique was applied to analyzing the expression of Id-1 and VEGF in 60 cases of gastric cancer and paracarcinoma tissues and 30 cases of normal gastric mucosa.RESULTS: The positive expression rates of Id-1 were 73.3%(44/60) for gastric cancer tissues,21.7%(13/60) for paracarcinoma tissues, and 6.7%(2/30) for normal gastric mucosa. The positive rates of VEGF were 78.3%(47/60),28.3%(17/60) and 13.3%(4/30),respectively.The expression of Id-1 and VEGF was correlated with the degree of tumor differentiation,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis(P0.05),but had no differences between the elements of age and sex(P0.05).CONCLUSIONS: The overexpression of Id-1 and VEGF has relationship with the gastric carcinogenesis. It seems that VEGF can probably induce tumor angiogenesis and contribute to the overexpression of Id-1 in gastric cancer.
