Title: Psychological Research on Family Members of the Patients with Rabies
Abstract: Objective To investigate the psychological status of family members of the patients with rabies.Methods The data of 32 patients with rabies and their 60 family members were collected with 60 family members of non-rabies patients as the controls.The mental states of family members in the two groups were investigated with self-designed questionnaires and symptom check list-90(SCL-90).The intervention like health education and psychological persuasion were conduced for the family members of SCL-90.And the psychological states before and after intervention were compared.Results The family members of patients with rabies had psychological problems such as anxiety,depression,anger,helplessness and conceit,with a significant difference as compared with the family members of non-rabies patients(P0.001).There were significant differences before and after intervention in the family members of the rabies group in SCL-90 scores of somatological change,compulsive symptom,depression,anxiety,hostility,affright and mind(P0.05).Conclusion The family members of patients with rabies have problems of anxiety,depression,anger,helplessness and conceit.The relative intervention directing at the psychological problems may help them go through the difficult period safely and steadily.
