Title: Investigation of psychological health condition of children with eye injury and their families and effect of psychological nursing intervention
Abstract: Objective To investigate mental condition of children with eye injury and their families,and give them psychological nursing intervention in addition to conventional drug treatment and nursing,so as to provide treatment and nursing measures for clinical use.Methods 80 children with eye injury and their families were chosen in this study.SCARED and the scale of life quality for patients with visual impairment were used to evaluate their psychological health and quality of life.SCL-90 was used to evaluate parents' psychological health and intervention was implemented.Changes were observed and compared before and after intervention.Results The scores of SCARED and quality of life were(32.52 ± 4.19),(75.65 ± 8.02) before intervention,and (32.52 ±4.19),(75.65 ± 8.02)after intervention,and the differences were statistically significant (t =3.88,3.01,respectively; P < 0.05).Children' s scores in somatization/panic,generalized anxiety disorder,selective anxiety disorder,social phobia,scholasstic phobia,visual function,physical function and psychology were significantly different after intervention from before (t =2.56,3.98,3.12,2.06,2.32,2.67,2.31,2.52,respectively; P < 0.05).Parents had obvious psychological problems including compulsion,interpersonal relationship,depression,anxiety and horror.Female parents' scores in compulsion,anxiety,depression and horror were respectively (1.98 ± 0.73),(1.83 ± 0.45),(1.89 ± 0.67),(1.78 ± 0.21),higher than (1.82 ± 0.34),(1.67 ± 0.45),(1.73 ± 0.28),(1.53 ± 0.29) of male parents,and the differences were statistically significant (t =2.23,3.18,2.06,3.03,respectively; P < 0.05).And after psychological intervention,the degree of anxiety of parents had significantly improved (P < 0.05).Conclusions There were obvious psychological problems in children with eye injury and their families,and psychological nursing intervention can significantly alleviate their anxiety and fear so as to promote their recovery.
