Title: Control Strategy of Refrigerant Flow Rate and Air Flow Rate for a Whole-Year-Running Air-to-Water Chiller
Abstract: In order to overcome problems happened in air-to-water chillers under low ambient temperauture, such as the rapid decrease of cooling capacity, a new type air-to-water chiller was presented, in which an additional capillary tube parallel to expansion valve as well as variable condenser fans is used. Based on the simulation platform, the performance variations under different conditions were compared and the control strategy was determined. The on or off of the capillary tube depends on the inlet temperature of coolant water and the number of fans is determined by the ambient temperature. A chiller using this method has been running normally over one year until now.
