Title: Detection of minute hepatic VX2 tumor:an experimental study with real-time ultrasound contrast
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the diagnostic performance of real-time contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) in diagnosing minute VX2 hepatic tumors with diameter ≤10.0 mm.Methods Tumor block transplanting methods was used to make the rabbit VX2 carcinoma model, and the tumor in rabbit's liver was verified by pathological section.Base-ultrasound(US) and CEUS were applied to detect rabbit VX2 tumors. The diagnostic performances of CEUS and US in evaluating rabbit VX2 tumors were analyzed and compared. Results Thirty-nine tumors were verified on pathological section. The detection rates of baseline and contrast ultrasound images were 12.8% and 79.5% respectively.CEUS yielded significantly higher detection rate than that of US.Conclusion Real-time CEUS significantly raises the detection rate of VX2 liver tumors less than 10.0 mm in diameter.
