Title: Myocardial protection of coenzyme complex in CABG patients under cardiopulmonary bypass
Abstract: Objective To study the protective effect of coenzyme complex on coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) patients under cardiopulmonary bypass. Methods Twenty patients scheduled for CABG under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) were randomly divided into 2 groups.Coenzyme complex (1 bottle/10 kg) was given for the experimental group. The arterial blood samples were collected at following time points:T1:during anesthetic induction period(baseline),T2:half an hour after aorta clamp,T3:ten min after aorta open,T4:at the end of CPB and T5:24 h,T6:72 h,T7:120 h after operation. The cardiac troponin I (TnI) and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) were measured. Results The levels of TnI increased significantly in the two groups during ischemia and reperfusion, even maintained at a higher level 120 h after operation, but the values in the experimental group were lower at corresponding time than those in the control group at following time points:ten min after aorta open, at the end of CPB and 24 h,72 h,120 h after operation(P0.05).The activity of the SOD in the control group and experimental group decreased significantly at 10 min after aorta open and the end of CPB;while at T4 time point, the values were higher in the experimental group than in the control group (P0.05). Conclusion Coenzyme complex may clear the oxygen free radical, maintain the activity of SOD,reduce the levels of TnI and have the effect of myocardial protection in the CABG with cardiopulmonary bypass.
