Title: Moyamoya disease: the value of 16-slice spiral CT angiography for diagnosis
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the use of 16-slice spiral CT angiography(MSCTA) in the diagnosis of moyamoya disease. Methods CT routine scan and MSCTA volume scanning were performed in 17 patiants. The angiograms obtained were processed on the ADW4.2 workstation to perform volume rending(VR),maximum intensity projection(MIP) and multiplanar volume reformation(MPVR).Results In all of the 17 patients,MSCTA showed varied lesions of stenosis and obstruction in arteria carotis interna(ICA),proximum of Willis' circle and posterior and middle cerebral arteries;abnormal vessel network in the basal part of brain;and the condition of collateral circulation in the brain. Conclusion MSCTA could well display the abnormal vessels and spatial relationship characteristic of moyamoya disease, providing important reference for the diagnosis and therapy.
