Title: Functional evaluation of peripheral nerve end-to-side anastomosis in rats
Abstract: Objective: To study the peroneal nerve function index and electrophysiological test after peripheral nerve end-to-side anastomosis and evaluate quantificationally the function of collateral sprouting.Method:30 male SD rats were randomly divided into two groups(E-S and E-E group):In E-S group, the distal end of right peroneal nerve were end-to-side anastomosed to tibial nerve. In E-E group, right peroneal nerve were transected and sutured by end-to-end way. After 2,3,5month,PFI,MNCV and CNCV were observed.Result:Functional recovery could be found after end-to-side anastomosis and reached peak value at 3 month, but the effect is not as good as that of end-to-end anastomosis. Conclusion:The end-to-side anastomosis could be a method for the nerve repairing, however, the cases should be selected carefully.
