Title: INVESTIGATION ON THE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SEXUALLY-TRANSMITTED DISEASES AND AIDS AMONG FEMALE MEDICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS IN WUHAN
Abstract: [Objective]To investigate the awareness status of knowledge about sexually-transmitted diseases(STD)and AIDS among female college students majoring in medical science.[Methods]An anonymous questionnaire investigation was conducted among 985 female college students majoring in medical science in Wuhan selected by cluster sampling.[Results]A total number of 985 students were surveyed. Among them,above 95.00% had the knowledge concerning AIDS,gonorrhea and syphilis,and above 91.00% had the knowledge about the three routes of transmission of HIV. Except homosexuals,above 85.00% of the female medical students had knowledge about high risk group and high risk behaviors of HIV/AID infection. But 6.90% of the students had a wrong perception that the mosquito could transmit the HIV. Only 1.50% of them knewcampaign of 100% condom,and only 27.00% of them knewwomen being more susceptible to HIV than men in sexual behavior.[Conclusions]The female college students majoring in medical science have some knowledge about sexually-transmitted diseases and AIDS,but further education is needed.
