Title: Relationship Between Expression of VEGF-C and Lymphagiogenesis in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Abstract: [Objective] To investigate the relationship between the expression of VEGF-C and lymph node metastasis and lymphagiogenesis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by marking the lymphatic with podoplanin.[Methods] The expression of VEGF-C and podoplanin in 60 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and 10 normal patterns of tissues without tumor was detected by immunohistochemical staining, and analyzed in combination with clinical and pathological prognostic parameter.[Results] VEGF-C expression in nasopharyngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in control group(P=0.000),and significantly correlated with tumor lymph node metastasis(r=0.382,P=0.003) and closely correlated with the clinical stage(r=0.305,P=0.018).The number of lympgatic vessel was significantly correlated with tumor lymph node metastasis(r=0.406,P=0.003) and was closely correlated with the expression of VEGF-C in tumor(r=0.471,P=0.001).[Conclusion]The high expression of VEGF-C may lead to lymphangiogenesis of tumor, and may lead to more extensive metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
