Title: Correlation study on coping style and preoperative anxiety of patients with thoracotomy
Abstract: Objective To explore the correlation between coping style and preoperative anxiety of patients with thoracotomy.Methods With purposive sampling method,61 patients with thoracotomy were recruited.Self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and trait coping style questionnaire(TCSQ) were used to investigated the patients.The data were analyzed by SPSS10.0.Results 62.30%(38/61) patients had higher scores(≥ 50 scores) of SAS.Mean score of SAS of the patients were higher than that of normal persons(t=3.562,P0.01).Positive coping had negative correlation with the patients' preoperative anxiety(r=-0.69,P0.01),while negative coping style had positive correlation with the patients' preoperative anxiety(r=0.84,P0.01).Conclusions Nurses should pay attention to preoperative anxiety of the patients with thoracotomy and give them mental care according to their coping styles in order to change the patients' negative coping attitude and behaviors and promote their health.
